Schisms that lead to Korea and Japan. Interestingly unlike many other civilizations, China’s conflicts have largely been internal historically, but most modern conflicts are external. They also have a history of struggling with smaller rival nations. Vietnam has beaten them back historically more times than anyone else, and also beat back America. Sometimes size doesn’t matter.
