most likely this marine is her successor but not related by blood, its an anime thing where being a successor of a legendary figure somehow makes you look almost like one (reminds me of lupin movie red vs green)
the end isn't about either marine realizes that she is the treasure, both marine sees the content of the box so new!marine wants to calm the OG down and set her free. why new!marine wants to do that? she is interested about OG ("i still should be able to run, so beautiful it chars my eyes" from the lyrics) plus she also sees the box content which is the good memories of OG and her regret of killing everyone because she opens it (teasing everyone to open it doesn't help either from treasure box MV)
