An individual with no intuition and even mediocre game knowledge will school anyone without game knowledge but a brilliant IQ. Some very brilliant minds did indeed become grandmasters but that was a combination of immense discipline studying game theory that only ever applies to chess, razor-sharp autistic focus and intuition. Modern day chess engines are the best example of this where they do not act on their own calculations for the opening or the endgame but rather draw from an immense library of opening/endgame books to draw patterns and extrapolate based on algorithms.
