You stick with Hajime because you're a peaceful dude who is worried about her.
The story can then go about rehabilitating Hajime/Hajime trying to be a normal girl because she catches feelings for you. Or turning the rumors into a self-fulfilling prophecy because you want to be strong enough to stand by her side. Or maybe both. Depends on how shounen you want it to be.
