For fitting or not with the character, just look at someone like Rushia for example, 3 different models, all with different hair styles and color, all of them distinctively indentifiable as Rushia. That would never be an issue.
As for the :3, it's been there the whole time, she's the one who forgets to use.
Change for the sake of change won't help.
