these games are meant to be a bit cryptic and there usually are clues for all the important stuff.
as for ridley she got grabbed several times by him and will continue to, she wasn't even close ti killing him yet because she is trying so hard to finish that she doesn't have enough upgrades to have the firepower to finish him quickly
