As you can see while there were definitely many who were fearing and expecting the worse with graduation, there was still a healthy amount of skepticism that it could be something like a hiatus, a serious health issue announcement or Aqua trying to pull some jokey fakeout in poor taste. It was nowhere near 100% certainty as you make it out to be. There was alot of divided opinions on what the stream was about but most agreed it wasn't going to be good news.
