The art isn't even that good, many linework does not a good paneling make. Guts as a character only has charades of depth, he is only a vessel by which the "dramatic story" can have an outlet to force the audience to empathize with to create emotional contrast. If guts being a depressed sack of piss wasn't so thematically appropriate as an allegory to the audience he would have no fans. Try reading something actually thought provoking like Spirit Circle or Helck or Onani Master Kurosawa instead of babby's first grimdark.
