>>92083801The situation is this, gifted memberships are Tier-1 members. So occasionally streamers get gifted a lot of memberships, say, 50, during a birthday stream or something. Those who get a gifted membership are probably tourists, and not your core audience, otherwise they would have bought it already.
So some streamers decide to put T1 memberships very cheap, say, $2, and the "actual" membership is thus Tier 2 at a regular price, say, $5. So T1 only get access to emotes, and nothing else, while T-2 members get to enjoy the regular benefit of a membership, like exclusive content, exclusive karaoke, gaming sessions, or similar.
Many streamers, like Pico-chan, ask their members what games they want her to play, or what stream topics to do; so if you ask T1 members, the tourists, they may suggest something that the majority of the actual audience doesn't want. By restricting it to T2 and above, then you ask the people who actually bought a membership, not those who were gifted one.
