I would recommend "G Gundam" I dont watch anime but Ive seen that one, the writing on the show is actually decent, theres plenty of drama, romance, and plot twists to keep you interested. The entire series used to be on youtube but im sure you can find it elsewhere. (Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me.) I dont want to spoil it but theres a romance between the main guy domon and the main girl rain (shocker) youll either really love it or really hate it by the end. When I saw it long ago I wanted them together, though I dont know if I would feel that way today. You like twilight so youll probably love their romance.
From memory the show starts off monster of the week defeat the baddie but if you make it past those initial 5 or so episodes out of like 45?, thats when the story actually picks up.
