>>9870350Ketchup has a strange and kinda sordid history. It began in the early-mid 1700s as a mushroom slop in (fittingly enough) the UK, where they still think mushrooms are a complete meal. Ketchup was at first used to describe basically any kind of dark sauce made from vegetables and sometimes nuts, I think walnuts and peanuts were used but don't quote me on that. Tomato ketchup didn't really become a thing until the US made their version that was actually closer to a salad dressing than a protein condiment. It was extremely salty, had a ton of nutmeg, and generally was used more as an ingredient similar to worchestire sauce than a sauce. Modern sweetened ketchup was actually a byproduct of certain preservatives becoming illegal. They increased acid and sugar content and it spoiled way slower, but it significantly deviated from the original flavor profile which would be more comparable in the modern era to something like grinding up pickled tomatoes. Going from the traditional definition of "any dark vegetable sauce" ketchup has a huge number of variants and if you don't care about the "vegetable" part then you can expand it dramatically. Curry ketchup, tonkatsu sauce, banana ketchup, etc etc, all fall under the general category. If you wanted to be extraordinarily semantic you could say that pickle relish is a ketchup but that's retarded.
>>9870356I've been to Jollibee, it's ok, 6/10, decent value. You're better off finding a korean fried chicken place or making your own but if you don't give a shit about anything and have like $8 to blow on mediocre food it's fine. Spaghetti is ass though, legit terrible, the chicken and halo halo are the only things worth anything in the western fast food market and there are still much better value propositions out there especially if you're willing to buy a few ingredients for yourself.
