The only problem with this method is that if you're doing this with the conscious decision that you're doing it to learn Japanese, it feels like a massive waste of time to spend all your time watching something you don't understand 95% of. I had watched anime for few years before learning about niconico (which was still pretty new thing back then) and then I got stupidly excited about understanding little bits of there and there and got super fucking addicted to content there (mainly Let's Plays) because at that point I still had infinite curiosity and passion about weeb shit and Japan, and also free time.
