What you're describing is someone who actually makes some kind of effort to distance themselves from the character in an attempt to put their best possible foot forward and appear as some kind of perfect person. Okayu does not and has never done that. She herself admits that she's terrible at lying and could never put on a convincing act of pretending to be someone she's not to save her life. Yes she downplays herself but that's also the kind of person she is. Most of the time if someone claims she is perfect or flawless it is obvious hyperbole and should not be interpreted as anything else. That having been said, a "average Japanese girl who likes games and can sing" is already approaching the ideal partner of most of the people on this board so saying that like it's some kind of negative is beyond stupid.
