i think trying to generalize the nature of his parasocialism towards chat into one category is likely impossible & is rather a mix of many different things, but y’know it’s still interesting to think about and look at the development of. i think there’s been a shift ever since he got back from nijiuk of platonic to inklings of something more, the latter of which has massively snowballed ever since he got new place. even aside from the constant bfe zatsus, i’ve kinda noticed this really not-so-subtle emphasis on the fact that there are no potential partners in his life & that even the previous ones don’t matter. when he would tell stories of anime girl before, it was just a funny story. now when he talks about the whole situation, he ends it by scoffing saying that he doesn’t care where she is now and that if she or anyone he knew in his personal life asked him out, he’d decline. even with the panam thing, in his last zatsu especially he started denying his interest in her which like… lmao c’mon. then there’s his whole commitment to the sigma grindset that he emphasizes a lot now.
i could easily be reading into things a bit much & sorry if i am, i just like studying my fav streamers like lab guinea pigs & think it’s interesting how this emotional attachment to a basically nameless, faceless mass of people develops. but i do think he does somewhat use chat as a romantic crutch (not entirely, as i said at the beginning of this damn manifesto it’s tough to solely generalize) which is like literally playing with fire so i hope he knows what he’s doing.
