>>34752467>The main issue alternative sites like Rumble have is that because they have this commitment to non-censorship or whateverThat's not the main issue. The main issue is twofold
1) Google has infinite money from their ad business to lose money on Youtube forever and one day if they need to in order to strangle their competitors.
Twitch is going to fold EXACTLY because of that: even Amazon can't afford to serve video (and moderate content) at a loss at the same scale Youtube can
2) If any alternative to Youtube EVER gained traction Google would just move the battlefield to the regulatory area. Here is one example of how
>UC Berkeley To Remove More Than 20,000 Online Videos From Public Access In Response To DOJ Captioning Demandhttps://www.adatitleiii.com/2017/03/uc-berkley-to-remove-more-than-20000-online-videos-from-public-access-in-response-to-doj-captioning-demand/Here is the QRD
>Berkeley made available free of charge without any barrier a massive library of educational videos from their courses.>Some organization complained that not all of them had closed captioning and, hence, were in violation of ADA>Berkeley (correctly IMO) said "fuck it" and just removed the ones without closed captioningThis has nothing to do with Google but it is exactly the "next weapon" Google would use if any other organization encroached on their turf.
Google tech is good enough these days to not only close caption most of their videos but also to do so in several languages. If push EVER come to shove they would just lobby the US government to ENFORCE IT (because it is already mandatory) for every video served by a video platform and Google would be the only one capable of obey said law.
