It's not hard to connect the dots; and it's not like they were leeching off Selen only. If they controlled project budgets, they probably could control other financial areas as well. Explains a lot why people out of the clique were complaining about their earnings and lived off scraps - there's reasonable chance Eliria & co. controlled their "wages".
The funny thing is, Anycolor technically still didn't lose money over this because the bills match - it was Selen footing it after all. But they can and they will slap the court case simply because it will make for excellent scapegoat, and publicity as well. Literally nothing to lose here.
