>>91049339Unironically Cover moving to being IP-based is probably what killed Holostars.
Hololive girls have good stream numbers that ALSO translate into IRL sales.
People from multiple countries are willing to stand in line to buy their merch.
People make shrines of their oshis merch and show it off, and they are PRAISED for being such dedicated fans instead of being shunned - other fans want and earn enough money to BE like these fans.
People make quality games for Holos that spread the word even among people who have no idea what "Hololive" even is.
People make fan-arts, lewds and animations for them because their content is interesting.
Homos had some amount of streamwatchers, and a huge chunk of twitter faggots who like them but not enough to watch them - but none of them are willing to buy their merch beyond a certain point.
None of them make fanarts or fan animations for them.
None of them will line up to buy their merch irl - they'll only buy merch online because these tards are afraid of going out irl.
If the Holostars had a good IP, Cover would only be too happy with investing on to them and supporting + promoting whatever project they come up with.
But even when they create something, it's only a pale imitation of what the girls have already done e.g. 7 Days to Die.
They've been given so many chances in VCR GTA to grab an audience for themselves - but they have failed time and again.
Look at Aki - she went into VCR Ark and became the leader of a huge chunk of e-celebs. She got a ton of viewers at the time as well.
Obviously not all of them stayed around, but enough did that she has a 5k+ average now.
And she's STILL discouraged about being the last to hit 1M, because holos are not only ambitious, but WORK HARD to get those ambitions fulfilled.
When a holo stays they want to hit 1M, they are saying "I will work hard and MAKE this a reality". And they almost always do.
When a homo says "I want to hit 1M", it's a "dream" or "passion" that they are ambivalent about from the outset. Wishful thinking about how "maybe I'll reach it one day haha".
Essentially the "Holostars" IP is useless because there's nothing of value behind that IP. There's no hardworking person who does creative projects or stream ideas out of passion that you want to cheer for. There's no entertainer who makes you laugh at every other minute on the stream. There's no one considerate about the audience to follow their lead instead of shitting on them and "doing what I want".
So it's only natural that the IP doesn't sell.
And if the IP doesn't sell after 5 years of your investment and attempts to sell it, how do you justify further investment into it?
