1. Good singer
2. Interested/able to take on such a big project
3. Not already signed/in an active unit
4. Popular
with the last one being the most negotiable. Going down the popularity ladder: Kuzuha’s already signed + in ChroNoir, Kanae is in ChroNoir (and bad at singing... sorry Kanakana...), Yashikizu seems uninterested in the whole idol thing, Mayuyu and Ib won't sing, Akina is already signed, Belmond and Maimai aren't really singers, Riki-chan is already signed, etc.
I'm definitely interested in where the idea came from, like who proposed it and why. I wouldn't be surprised if Nijisanji saw how much their boys in particular have been inclining over the last year and wanted to quickly get a hold on the male vtuber idol market with the backing of some of their biggest names.
