I really don't think it's the actual fans of these games doing this shit, outside of shooter games like TF|2 and HL2. Outside of those two, it's always struck me that the people who complain are secondaries, while the people who actually play the game and participate in the communities of them are having a good time.
During MonHun last night, nearly every MonHunfag was pointing out the flaws, yeah, but they weren't going "wow, she's fucking it up so bad, this sucks." They were going "that's hilarious, it's great watching newfags learn the ropes, she seems to be better than last week."
Same with Nier and Kiara. Nierfags were shitposting about how Kiara was going full Caim and how it was refreshing to see someone react so differently compared to the norm, whereas the usual Kiara shitposters were admitting to not having even played the game, just wanting to shit on her for any reason they could.
I think it's just the secondaries, really, that stir shit, like usual. Especially for a game like DMC, no reasonable person who plays these games would expect a newfag to pull off SSS on their first run more than a handful of times. Hell, I'd be impressed if she managed to hit an S rank combo even once.
