The grammar sounds like that, KANJI on the other hand is beyond bs and the cultural barrier as well, but she doesn't need to learn that, she just needs to have a decent level of listening/speaking which she could easily achieve in less than a year if she takes it seriously, after all she has contact with people who speak fluent japanese, she's not alone if she needs help, that's a huge advantage when it comes to learning a language.
