>>87937976Humanity and the pursuit of the ideals of "humanity" while being completely disconnected from that. The fallibility of life and ideals. And more importantly in the ending it's the idea that we all suffer and struggle the same and there is true altruism possible by humans when disconnected from the greater self or a sense of egoism or drawn borders, nationally or ideologically. Like you wouldn't give your life for someone you hate but you would for someone you love, and those lines can be blurred. A sense of community and togetherness. Humans are funny creatures. But more than that it's not even like globalism or humanism because it frames itself within the guise of "these people have also suffered playing Nier Automata... so you will give up everything to help them, won't you?" so you're helping "your people" and it gives you an actual choice where you lose out greatly, like legitimately lose 70 hours of your life with the potential that some irresponsible e-thot will just delete 70 hours of your life for her youtube views.
Watching reactions to this and seeing the potential whores and retards I'd be giving up my save data for actually made me less willing to give up my save data. I still will every time but yeah... It drove home the "someone you detest or particularly dislike might use this data" point.
It's something like that and probably even deeper than that or just as deep as this puddle I've written but to experience it firsthand, and then secondhand to see someone go through it and acquiesce to the request because of the struggle they've gone through and the fact that others sacrificed their shit for them, is incredibly powerful.
I didn't think much of Automata compared to Nier Replicant personally when I first played it. I thought it was kind of like this upgraded combat and systems but the soul was gone. But over the years I've appreciated Automata more and more and I "get" it now. But only after aging and knowing what I know about previous games and seeing people react to it.
The ending of Automata when it really kicks in and especially if the player realizes it, has me brought to tears pretty much like 90% of the time. It's naive but also incredibly hopeful and positive.
P.S. zero is best girl followed by kaine, 2B isn't even on the radar, A2 is best girl from that automata game
