>>2216627It’s been a week since the whole kerfuffle with Noel. Your hate towards her has yet to subside. Just the mere thought her existence is enough to annoy you and of course you think about her everyday as your broken nose serves as a reminder. You visited the hospital with Flare last week. The doctor told you your nose should heal within a month but since the impact was so hard that it completely shattered the cartilage and your nose may heal to be a bit crooked. When you heard that you were furious. Noel has left a terrible mark on you and it will never fade. That’s beyond infuriating. She has to pay for what she has done. What was once your best friend being now your worst enemy.
On the other hand, Flare has been extremely helpful and kind to you over the week although she has always been like that so it’s not like it’s nothing new but it always feels nice regardless to have someone there to help you out. Flare has been visiting your apartment every day and helping you with chores or just any problems you may have. Honestly you don’t really the help; you only have a broken nose, everything else works fine although you find yourself getting angry a lot. Just anything that reminds you about Noel is enough to enrage you but Flare is always there to comfort and calm you down. Just the sight of her is calming enough. You honestly can’t thank Flare enough for what she done.
However, Flare did not come today. It’s 9:00PM and she usually drops by at 5:00PM. A little worrying but you have to remember she also has her own life to live, she’s probably busy with something else so you can’t fault her. Besides she’s already done more than enough. Although you would think that she would call or text you if she couldn’t make it. Hmmmm No good. If you keep thinking about it, you’re going make yourself worry too much. You’re sure she’s fine and that she’ll swing by tomorrow.
It’s 1:00AM now. You’re starting to feel sleepy so you preparing yourself for bed: Shower taken, teeth brushed, pyjamas on… You’re ready for bed. But you despite your groggy state, you can’t sleep. Flare is still on your mind. Before you were able to distract yourself with games and videos but in bed you’re left alone with your thoughts. You can’t help but feel a sense of dread. Why didn’t she come today? Did something happen? Is she safe? You shake your head to rid your thoughts. You are way too clingy. You got to stop that otherwise you’ll creep her out but Flare is nice, she wouldn’t think that right? You heave a sigh. You’re just going back and forth with yourself. No more thinking. Shut your eyes and just count sheep. 1 sheep 2 sheep 3 shee-
Your phone buzzes beside you, interrupting your sheep counting. Who the hell wants to talk at this hour. You grab your phone and turn it on. The screen is bright so your eyes shy away from it for a few seconds but once you look you at it, you’re glued to the screen. It’s Flare. You don’t even know what she wrote yet but it’s a huge relief just to receive any form of contact from her. You frantically tap you pass code in order to see the message but what you see only leaves you with confusion and repulsion.
‘Come to Noel’s house.’ It reads. Why the fuck do you have to go to her house? Your anger is welling up, sleep leaving you by the moment. You really don’t want to go but if Flare is asking you can’t say no. You jump out of bed and dart outside. No time to change clothes.
Knowing Flare, she’s probably wants the two of you to make up. Sorry Flare but that isn’t happening. She needs to realise that monster is not be reasoned with and you’re going to be the one who shows her that.
Before you know you’re already in front of the bastard’s house. You forgot how disgustingly close it was to your apartment but it also means you get to Flare quicker as well. You close in on the door. Ready to bang on it with full force but just as you do, the door slams open. It was unlocked. Sure the local neighbourhood is a pretty safe place but that doesn’t warrant leaving the front door unlocked. Something is not right here you feel.
Stepping into the house you see that everything is just shrouded in darkness. It doesn’t look like there is a single soul here. Is Flare really here? You quickly scan all the rooms on the first floor, the kitchen, living room, bathroom… But there really is no one around and it seems it’s been like that for a while with so much dust built up everywhere. You’ve been here before a while back but it looks completely different. You remember it being homely but now it just seems desolate. Has Noel been living like this for a long time? That’s pathetically pitiful.
You return to the front door. The only place left to check is the second floor. There is no point in dawdling so you jog up the stairs. The stairs are still as creaky as ever, the only thing that seems familiar in this stupid house.
