>QOTTSludge Metal is extremely fitting in many ways. It being doom metal mixed with elements of hardcore punk gives it an edge that I've always loved that wasn't present in later influenced genres like grunge. Bands like Crowbar focus more on the hardships of life, some like the Melvins present themselves and their music as completely insane, due to society, with their lyrics being near indecipherable and others like my favorite, Acid Bath get really nihilistic and dirty with constant mention/themes of rape, murder, love, cockroaches/insects, amputation, cannibalism, drugs, suicide, etc. Really fitting for the name sludge metal. I often think of many of our freaks while listening to them. They present an exhaustion for life in such a satisfying way. I love it and am glad they're publicly accessible for the first time since they broke up in the 90s
