The reason Kronii (and the rest of the council to an extent) is so attentive and protective of Mumei is because humanity is the reason time can exist as a concept. Time is measurement that humans observe. Time does not matter without observation. If there is no one to perceive the passage of time then the beginning and end of the universe have no difference. If humanity dies, the rest of the concepts will have no purpose and vanish. In that same vain, you could say that Kronii, Sana, Fauna, and Bae only exist because Mumei "made" them. So the Council protecting Mumei are trying to keep themselves alive. Similarly to how beings in a dream might try to keep the dreamer asleep so they don't cease to exist.
