>>13940991This post ignores so many things to try and make a false equivalence that both sides are equally bad while also not knowing the very basics of cybersecurity. Do you think there aren't people attempting to dox vtubers when Hololive opens auditions? Or Nijisanji? You never hear about it because proper procedure is to investigate and keep things quiet. People posted that FTC thing here a hundred times but the fact of the matter is that doxxing for the purposes of swatting and doxxing just to steal your money are crimes that are handled completely differently. The latter is where you make a PSA to announce what happened so the victims may take the initiative to update information and monitor their own accounts for anything they don't recognize. The former you keep quiet on, contact those affected, and disable the method they used to attack.
Additionally it glosses over so many fucking things Nux did wrong to make both sides seem more even. Like saying that Nux was "tricked" by the doxxers. He was straight up told by ph0enix that he was being manipulated by someone in the group, which Nux ignored and said it was a detail that ultimately didn't matter. It also pushes the claim that just because the one person they had identified so far wasn't someone they could reasonably prosecute that there was nothing that could be done, when every claim has been that there were multiple bad actors (again, one of whom was feeding Nux false info). Unless it's suggesting that literally everyone in the swatting group knew each other IRL and hung out together it's more than likely there could have been others anywhere in the world and that they could have been legal, prosecutable adults. It glosses over the fact that Nux didn't tell anyone he was making the video after their initial correspondence where it was explained to him why turning the situation into content was a bad idea and he seemed to agree. Not until Nux tweeted a video was coming did they know, and they had to rush to contact him to find out why the fuck he was doing it. Legally, they couldn't have told Nux not to make it, and being too forceful could have been considered infringing on his rights, as well as opened up new avenues for Nux to fuck things up. So they had to stay on his good side if he was going to be a retard and not listen in order to try and mitigate the damage as much as possible. Mouse does say that none of the girls were contacted during this part which is a place that VShojo fucked up that could be added against them. Nux was also warned that making a video where he spends half the runtime taunting them about how smart and epic he is would embolden the doxxers and wouldn't you know it, after he took down the video the doxxers reuploaded it to Youtube themselves. Then the guy Nux claims to have caught has been making videos mocking Nux, talking about how he's still free and hadn't been arrested as claimed. Nux also completely overstated Melody's involvement in the discussion to throw her under the bus, and lied to Froot saying that she had approved of the video when her only involvement had been making the group chat that they were in before leaving to do a Patreon group meetup.
