Quoted By:
It is day 17 of the suibreak. Yesterday, I woke up to knocks on my door. I was not expecting any visitors that day. I open the door cautiously, and before my eyes stood a gremlin, a creature I thought existed only in fantasy tales. It sets down a small linen bag, before scurrying off. I bring it inside my house and place it in the attic, not thinking much of it.
It was the sort of thing that might once have held marbles or a handful of coins—innocuous, forgotten. Yet I could feel a strange energy emanating from it, making me uneasy. Night brought little relief. I would lie awake, the shape of the sack imprinted on the insides of my eyelids whenever I closed my eyes. A whispering began to fill the silence of the house, so faint I thought it might be the wind or the house settling—until the words became clearer.
"Sui. Sui. Sui."
