This 100% comes from people whose interest in vtubers don't derive from anime but weird purityfag fetish (not even idols, no, idolfags are mostly JP thing and barely exist in the West). They didn't think it's good enough to have streamers in anime avatars and then choose the one you like. They think there's this transcendental purityfag status for all and every vtubers that require every single vtuber to roleplay CGDCT all the time.
Even though their own favorites don't really do that either
