i recommend cooking an egg every day until you nail it. if it's too cold, it will take forever and get greasy. if it's too hot, the bottom will dry out before it heats through. you also need just the right amount of butter, which is what transfers a lot of the heat to the egg. too little butter and your egg will stick and cook unevenly, and it also needs to heat up before you add the egg, but if it gets too hot the butter itself will burn. putting the right amount of salt on it afterwards is also an important skill.
