Whats up Nerissa. I have more thoughts on Pride and Prejudice but I figure ill save it for later. I dont want to write more walls of text. I mainly have thoughts on Darcy's first proposal. My boy is just misunderstood, he meant well and in his mind he complimented Elizabeth, even if it was objectively crass and rude. His thought process was that even if shes not to his normal standards and her family isnt either, and in no world would he fall in love with a girl like her. He did. And that is the compliment. Thats the compliment he believes in his mind, that despite all of Elizabeth's negative traits, she managed to capture his heart. Hes complimenting her in like an underdog winning the championship type of way, but Elizabeth obviously didnt take it that way. My boy Darcy is just misunderstood, hes just awkward and couldnt express his feelings properly. He says it with his own mouth
>"I certainly have not the talent which some people possess," said Darcy, "of conversing easily with those I have never seen before. I cannot catch their tone of conversation, or appear interested in their concerns, as I often see done.">>88426233I had to look this up thoroughly to give a proper reply. I dont like it. I dont like any modernity. The Catholic church evangelized all of Europe and the New world and other major parts of the world through our unchanging tradition and rites. We dont need to be "hip and young" to appeal to the youth. My thoughts are best summed up with a GK Chesterton quote
>we dont a church that will move with the world, we want a church that will move the world.
