Why does there have to be a definite 100% reason for the ""appeal"? Why is it important that a vtuber has a specific talent they excel in? Why can't people just enjoy something because, well, because they enjoy it.
XQC is like one of the most popular streamers around. His skill was being a pro player in Overwatch. Except, that was almost 2 years ago and now he just streams random shit and people watch him because he's enjoyable to watch. No singing, no drawing, no multiple languages, no music producing. Just a guy and a microphone who people are drawn to.
