>>95314508a gameplan is a set of hard rules you follow voluntarily during a match. They are, to put it simply, choices you make BEFORE the match even starts.
they can be as specific as you want, as it is always easier to APPLY precise instructions. There's a catch though: the more numerous and precise they are, the harder they are to LEARN and free some brain power.
Example: "I will be agressive during this match" is harder to apply correctly during said match than "Mai's 214LP is -4 so I will punish with s.LP to be +8 and get my 2MK DR combo", because "being aggressive" covers a lot of situations and isn't very precise. It WILL eat more mental ressources to choose a suitable course of action than the second rule. However, it is way easier to learn how to be aggressive in said situations than to drill in the muscle memory for the punish to be effective. You can even do it in a match.
A general rule shapes how you tackle a match, they are vague on purpose, but they cut a lot of options for you during the process of decision making. Let's continue with the aggressive one. At round start, being aggressive means you exclude every options that don't move you forward from your mind. Less to think about = less to worry about.
Once you've applied a general rule successfully, you can easily derive specific ones from it and establish a more complex gameplan. Example: a Dictator flowchart could be like
Round Start -> H Knee Press -> they jumped -> Parry -> if PP, plant a mine
-> if thrown, take the throw until they're bored
-> they got hit -> HP -> v
-> they blocked -> HP -> DRC until you plant a mine -> wait for the reversal -> win
Now comes the hard part, actually choosing the rules to follow. There is no correct choice here (for general rules), you can let your mood dictate your gameplay. However, I would advise you to have at least those three types in your gameplan:
- the direction you're taking the match
- the default option on your wakeup
- a goal
the preceding flowchart had these three rules baked in: "be aggressive", "take the throw", "plant a mine". That's all you need to have a usable gameplan.
hope I was clear enough in my explanation
