>>15666357This might be different for everyone based on their tastes and fetishes but I look at it less as a 1-2-3 list of priorities and more like a pie chart, where things like attention to detail, setting/fetish covered and dirty talk would occupy the same space, but I'd be willing to overlook deficiencies in one area if I get lots of something else.
I'll pick on the recent Watame lactation story here since it was the first real prompt I posted that got filled - but in terms of subject matter it was very much in line with my fetishes, the setting and progression was perfect for the length of the story and the attention to detail was in that goldlocks zone between making you fill in too many blanks and leaving something to be desired, and getting caught in minutiae and finally Watame's dialogue was in line with what I would expect out of her in such a situation as well. If I use the pie chart analogy again, it was extremely balanced.
I did mention it was sadly too short (by design) to be used as spank material for an entire session, but length by itself can't save a story that's wonky, lacking in the three categories you mentioned. I remember there was one fanfiction series I read for some time that was incredibly long, but the writing was repetitive and uninspired; it did have a bunch of my fetishes though so it was fappable, but not a great read.
I guess to summarize is: all of them. A good smut story can't exist without balance. Depending on your subject matter (not everyone's into Insect oviposition or NTR) a great story will lose readers who aren't into that - but a mediocre story will make lots of people happy who are. But a normal smutfic needs a good balance of all three.
