Japan is not doing well economically and western payment processors pulling out from sites if they sell any loli related stuff. I bet in the next couple years they will have more strict laws in that field.
And I don't know how you missed it but vtubing is already pretty much mainstream. Hololive performing at US baseball games, big corpos pushing their "AI influencers" which is very close in spirit to vtubing.
