Envy is specifically about wanting to take something from someone else, it's the feeling of wanting something that someone else has. You are envious that someone has it better than you, so you want to steal it from them. You are envious, in that you want to take what others have. Malicious envy is the primary drive for socialists seeking "economic justice" or however they attempt to justify their socially unacceptable feelings. They see someone richer, and they want to take that all for themselves. They HATE the rich, because they are better off. They hate the rich, because they aren't them.
Jealousy on the other hand is fine. If you see someone better off than you and feel like you want to be as rich or well off as them (without antipathy toward the person itself) then there's no problem. That's just a natural drive pushing you toward success. If your feelings are more along the line of
