They clearly want you to find it early on in the game and it's easy to get through 99% of it with little issue but then come that final fight the game suddenly pulls skill checks that are clearly meant for someone with a relatively high level, so you either savescum until you luck out or let the fag die and end the quest on a really shitty note.

I'm happy she pulled it off but it was annoying as shit. It's one of the reason some people have a "designated backseater" they go for when they need advice.
