I have a genuine question for /vt/.
Have you ever accidentally upset your Oshi, or a Vtuber in general that you really enjoy watching? Have you ever said a joke or comment that you honestly thought was within boundaries, or that you felt matched the energy of the person you were watching, only for them to get upset/annoyed with you and call you out, and I don't mean in a bantering, playful way. Like, their demeanor totally shifts to being serious with a visibile change in their tone of voice and facial expression?
I know many people would probably say to just grow a thicker skin, but its easier said than done, especially when it feels unexpected/unwarranted.
But if you have experienced these things, how do you deal with them? What do you do? Up until recently I barely ever had this issue, being sure to be mindful of the rules and to also pay close attention to the person's energy/tastes/preferences, as well as reading the room. I try to not saying anything worse than what the person I'm watching has said, and even try to scale it back just a bit to err on the side of caution, but even while doing this I somehow ticked off a couple vtubers with from something I said in chat. I didn't even get timed out or banned. Just verbally reprimanded.
It honestly bums me out. I don't like upsetting people, and I especially don't like to be 'that guy' that the vtuber gets mad at. I want to enjoy watching the stream and interacting with them, but it kills my enjoyment especially when I was already trying to stay within acceptable boundaries. It also feels bad when they recognize you, and have laughed at your jokes before, but instead had the complete opposite reaction this time around.
Pic unrelated. I don't watch Reine but she has a nice model.
