As a kid playing a game for the first time about going on a big long anime adventure across the world(s) with your motley group of friends, killing monsters, collecting things, completing quests, increasing STATS, all to ultimately punch god in the face at some point with maybe some plot tweests in between was like the funnest thing for me. So I still like them now.
Trying to get into them as a adult might be hard, you might just find them all really dumb and boring, and you might not be able to ignore some of the bad mechanics and jank a lot have.
