He likes to tease his fans, but he also genuinely love them from the bottom of his heart and has spoken from time to time how he doesn't really know how to show affection properly...
Maybe that's one of the reason why. The way he acts and present himself makes it really easy to twist his action and make him do fucked up things "for love". His contrasting taste in media doesn't really help either...
