It's whole shtick is that it can give itself an aura that basically negates most damage by a massive percent which causes the fight to kinda drag
Though in general most monsters in Monster Hunter can be killed in about 5-10 minutes depending on your gear and skill level, generally speaking the power-scaling favors the player
