To answer your question directly, even though /vt/ looked off in the first half, they were playing well enough to defend and make somewhat coherrent attacks. No changes until near the end was a result of /vt/ playing a lot better then, and /wg/ not having any on target shots in that half. I'll speculate that even if TM was not added, someone on /wg/ would have scored given how aggressive they were. Not going full agression after the equalizer was a decision to leave the match with one point vs zero in a loss. Had the stakes been higher, I would have managed more aggressively for a win.
