>>45831372I think your main problem is linking the start to the ending that you want without it being 'undetermined amount of fluff later'.
I'm pretty sure the only way you can solve this is pretty much throwing in a bit of conflict their way, either by way of new characters related to the whole demon/angel thing or related by way of being in the same boat of 'trying to learn of humanity/earth. Your going to need something to push the story on even if it's just the 'expected story' of two people trying to find a way to break it early and learning to like each other in the process.
