>>92913714 has good advice already, but an easy way to start is buy a couple Genkouyoushi practice books and practice learning your stroke orders for hiragana and katakana. Stroke order is the basic of basics to learn and will help you later for more complicated words. Write your characters 50 times and if you stumble on remembering one, write it another 50 times until you're able to remember all of the characters.
