Rather, when the Nameless One purges the corruption from Her being She loses her physical form and has to reconstitute it over an extended period of time. Meanwhile, the corruption that gets purged becomes its own entity as mentioned in "Nameless Mother of a Thousand Young".
The whole process is a cosmic safety net to prevent a feedback loop of "society suffers, thus weakening the Nameless One which in turn decays the social order further". I'm workshopping whether the Nameless One's physical purity is tied solely to Hooman civilization or to civilization as a whole.
