You're a SWAT officer task with breaching and clearing a decrepit compound hosting a potentially armed and dangerous cult. In a nighttime raid you and your team breach and clear as normal. The reports were right, these cultists are armed and deranged- almost all of them are wiped out in the confontration, all except this one girl who definitely does not belong here; is she perhaps an unknown hostage? And she is also holding a particular book that sometimes makes your head hurt when you give it glances but you pay no mind.
The kicker? This was supposed to something normal, you go in and breach, clear, save the hostage, and be the hero etc etc... but when you get out of the room with the girl in tow, you're in a different part of the compound entirely. The walls are shifting, you can hear faint noises, sounds of skittering, sounds of footfalls and hushed whispers... and there are noises that are definitely not made by a human, you will spend hours fighting tooth and nail for your life against horrors you cannot comprehend, and whatever is left of those crazy cultists, all the while caring for this seemingly normal hostage.
