It brought order, humans as we know started running around, etc. Marika was chosen to be The Golden Order's Avatar and after a long long time of having this position Marika has had enough of being The Golden Order's slave and shatters the Elden Ring damaging her connection to The Golden Order and called the Tarnished to come claim it.
The other outer gods were being kept out by The Golden Order and could only subtly influence, Those being The Formless Mother through Mohg, The Scarlet Rot through Malenia and so on. Now that the Elden Ring is shattered the door is slightly open so they're all trying to get inside.
