I’ve been away from this board for the past few days because I’ve been spending Thanksgiving with my family still a bit uncertain as to whether it was worth it because not having any time to myself, including to watch vtubers, was exhausting as fuck. I’m back for the first time since Tuesday, and I’m seeing so many baitposts in the catalog about Gura not streaming on thanksgiving.
I don’t watch Gura, I don’t have strong feelings about her either way, but I know she barely streams. Is there some particular reason that her not streaming on thanksgiving is making people seethe enough to talk about it? I…honestly expect plenty of EN vtubers to not stream on a day like this (at least, the ones who are American), because it’s one of those holidays that’s meant to be spent with family. If Gura doesn’t stream, then what is it about Thanksgiving that makes not streaming on that day so notable?
I saw one post that seemed to suggest she *did* stream on Thanksgiving last year. Is that it? Again, I don’t watch Gura so I don’t actually know for certain. All I know is if she has a habit of taking several weeks off without streaming, which I *do* know she’s done lately, and she’s in the middle of one of those cycles, then surely it’s not anything unusual for her not to stream today either.
I’m not trying to pass judgment on whether all these breaks are ok or not or whether chumbuds should or shouldn’t drop her. I really am neutral about all this and think everyone can make their own decisions about whether this is something they can tolerate in their oshi. I just actually have no idea what the hell all the furore is about.
