>>92551948I get that, but I guess I mostly underestimated how long it would take to reach a level that is considered "business level" (at least for a position for the EN branch). I had the chuuni idea of studying more and going from my current low level to N3ish while I worked on my MBA then moving on to working in Japan (or to a job that would travel there regularly) for a few years, but the reality is that doing so would be a massive cut to my salary. That is also ignoring that learning Japanese is a long time consuming process and that I'll be 35ish by the time I finish my MBA. I'll still try to grind out the Japanese just because I do consume so much Japanese media, but outside of watching streams it's hard to have any real logical reason to put in the effort which is disheartening.
