Some engineered materials are orders of magnitude harder than others at the same temp though, for example, inconel stays almost at maximal hardness at temperatures that make common steel alloys very soft.
While those materials don't currently exist, it's plausible that specialized materials could be developed that get hot enough to melt metal while retaining their strength. Maybe some kinds of metal-ceramic composites?
>>50485335Based. One issue with melee weapons is that you need to use your limbs to swing or thrust it at speeds fast enough to deal damage and bypass defenses, the pile bunker doing the thrusting action for you bypasses this drawback. It would be pretty well suited to that armor piercing chuubanite weapon.
