>>54105672Dark Souls 3 got a lot of flak from people because it felt linear initially but you can branch off into the endgame almost immediately with some game knowledge. It has a lot of the best bosses in the series, and some of the beset encounter design in general. It's gameplay is the most solid and balanced but behind Elden Ring in options, and the DLCs add up to a fantastic package like The Old Hunters, with 3-4 top tier bosses for the Soulslikes overall. The game is filled with secrets and the levels are "just right" in size, it almost never overstays it's welcome unlike some draggy parts of Elden Ring for example.
The only real criticism I have of it is how dull everything looks in terms of colors compared to DaS1 and DeS even... But that's by design if you understand the lore, because it's meant to be the rapid end of an age, and that's reflected in the second DLC where
You timeskip to near the end of time and all that's left is a tiny portion of ruins and a vast, empty desert where you fight the real Last Boss. Overall it's possibly their best, it isn't quite as tight as Bloodborne, or as huge in scope as Elden Ring, but it sits in a comfortable middle that makes it perfect for streaming. the "linearity" also makes repeat/challenge/themed build runs easier to play. |
Boss design wise: DaS3>Elden Ring>BB
But BB has the best boss in terms of "fair difficulty" with Orphan>DaS1=DaS2
DaS1 better overall but DaS2 more standounds with the DLCs>DeS
