Soulmate is SSR gacha, people used to marry purely to pool resources together and start a family. That's why divorce rates are abysmal in 1st 2nd world: media created a narrative that marriage & family is a wonderous fairy tale full of butterflies while it's really a 2nd job with objective of raising kids together.
